Dutch is a proud Vietnam veteran who recently settled in the peaceful corners of Northern California. With a heart full of stories and a home full of love, he shares life with his emotional support pets—two loyal dogs, Oliver and Daisy, and two quirky cats, Moo and Paws. If you’ve seen his cooking videos, chances are you’ve spotted Moo, the black and white cat who loves the spotlight.
Though Dutch was diagnosed with macular degeneration and has lost his central vision, he hasn’t let that stop him. With determination, peripheral vision, and a lifelong love of food, he’s found creative ways to stay in the kitchen—and he’s made it his mission to help other veterans do the same. Through simple, adapted cooking techniques and a supportive community, Dutch hopes to empower fellow veterans to cook independently and connect over shared meals and stories.
Outside the kitchen, Dutch is a man of many passions. He’s an avid bonsai enthusiast, attending classes and shaping miniature trees with the same care and patience he brings to his food. His blindness doesn’t stop him from exploring music either—he takes guitar, piano, and harmonica classes, and dreams of busking and jamming with his community someday soon.
Whether it’s tending to a bonsai, crafting a meal, or making music, Dutch is all about connection, creativity, and finding joy in the everyday.
